Created out of need by hot yogis
We are yogis. We like it hot. We love to sweat. Some days we need electrolytes. We want to know where the ingredients we are putting into our body come from and where our trash is heading. Unhappy with the electrolyte products on the market and the lack of transparency in the supplement industry, after 8 years of operating a vibrant hot yoga studio in Jackson Hole, WY, we decided to brave a new frontier. With sourcing, transparency, taste, quality, and packaging in mind, we entered a new world of natural food products and the consumer packaged goods industry. After a few more years of networking, education, research, and persistence in upholding our core values of environmental sustainability and social responsibility, we are proud of the products we now share with you. Our electrolyte powders and packaging are simple, sustainable, and pure! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
We are only as healthy and happy as our environment and our community. We strive to take care of both. We are the FIRST company to bring a compostable stick pack to the market. We are thrilled to be working with TIPA SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING (view here) to uphold our mutually shared values of sustainability and eco-innovation. We hope to inspire the growth of more municipal compost centers and empower you to join the movement to decrease post-consumer waste. We’re stronger in numbers. Jump aboard!
YogaLyte grew out of INVERSION YOGA (view here), a hot yoga studio in Jackson Hole, WY. At 6,237 feet, we live at high altitude with low air pressure and less oxygen. Our thin, dry air leads to many students showing signs of dehydration. Traveling yogis and tourists, who have not acclimatized, come to class and often push too hard. Many of our students come to class after having already performed some other extreme activity that day, such as skiing, biking, climbing, rafting, or running. Other students come to class with widespread medical issues, injuries, altered mental and physical states from substance abuse, emotional imbalances, and personal baggage. We have to take into account the extreme and unexpected to uphold safety in our hot classes. We have had to implement a very strong safety policy and procedure for when students get dehydrated and things go sideways in an 105 degree, humid hot box at high elevation.
At Inversion Yoga, we are committed to upholding a self environment in all of our hot classes and making sure our students are properly hydrated. We use our electrolyte powders daily and have found the following three groups of students our top consumers of our electrolytes:
- New students, to set them up for success while their body acclimatizes to the heat.
- Students who begin to show signs of dehydration and to those who “bonk” in class.
- As a healthy alternative to students who regularly consume sports drinks, such as Gatorade (which has artificial dyes derived from petroleum and has an excessive amount of sugar).
Having electrolyte powders readily available at our studio is a part of our Health and Safety Policy and Procedure Manual. It is very important because we offer yoga in an extreme hot environment. Read more on PROPER NUTRITION AND HYDRATION HERE.
Values + Purpose
We believe that individual wellness and happiness are intrinsically connected to the overall health of our community and our planet. We must work to take care of all three entities: body, people, and planet, to grow and thrive together. We are committed to our values and high standard of excellence. We support sustainable and organic practices. We love our work and enjoy connecting with individuals to ensure that everyone’s needs along the supply chain and production path are met. Our mission is to inspire healthy, active and balanced lifestyles, provide clean products that support wellness and peak performance and advance eco-friendly packaging solutions to decrease post-consumer waste.
We are health nuts, bodyworkers, yogis, nutritionists, foodies, and environmentalists. We have become entrepreneurs because a lot of hard work needs to be done to heal the planet and the people working close to the land. We source ethically. We take responsibility for our waste. We stand for “Pro People and Pro Ocean.” The ocean is 70% of the planet and it controls our climate. The ocean is being stressed beyond it’s ability to adapt and heal. There are now islands of trash covering the surface of the ocean and they are huge! Along with blocking the light entering into the ocean, which completely destroys the subsurface ecosystem, our trash is being eaten by birds and fish, it is killing marine life, and plastic is entering our food chain. If our trash blows out of the bin and misses the landfill, it needs to be able to break down in nature. We cannot fight every battle in the environmental movement, so we are focusing on our waste.
Reuse BEFORE Recycle and Rot! We FIRST, support the movement to buy in bulk, reduce waste, and REUSE and WASH dishes before using compostable, single use packaging. We SECOND, support and seek to strengthen the backyard and municipal compost movement. Too many health food stores and restaurants are no longer washing dishes because it is easier to put a smoothie, salad, or coffee in a compostable container. It still takes a lot of energy to make and break down that compostable cup or bowl. Let’s be smart. Glass is queen. It can be reused and recycled without breaking down. Let’s wash our dishes and join together to expect higher standards from our actions. We 100% know and believe in the power of a group to collectively shift awareness and through action change the course of the future. It is time to join together and be empowered by our ability to consciously heal the planet.
Join the Movement!
